Artist Profile

The son of a blues musician and pianist, Hobbit was surrounded by music from birth. Quickly becoming an accomplished artist in his own right, Hobbit soon found percussion to be his true calling and with his love of hip-hop, naturally gravitated towards beatboxing.

By the age of 15, he was already entertaining packed venues. Rocking the mic at every given opportunity gained him a loyal following, leading to numerous shows and collaborations with various live acts around the world. From one-off shows to international tours, Hobbit soon found himself performing to crowds of over 60,000 and to TV audiences over 7,000,000.

Meanwhile, aged 16, a young Ad Apt was also starting his music career. His passion for the UK dance scene and devotion to hip-hop soon saw him performing as a hype man and emcee alongside the best of the industry’s drum’n’bass artists.

5 years of touring Europe with thebandwithnoname and playing a key role in the writing and production of 3 of their albums (collectively selling over 33,000 copies worldwide) saw Ad Apt mature as an artist, whilst demand for his talents increased.

Having separately already appearing on stage and run workshops across the world, these guys have also made numerous regional, national and international print, radio and TV appearances. They have featured prominently in a number of advertising campaigns and made guest appearances on several albums and DVDs.

Thanks to a strong friendship and enduring respect for each other’s skills, the inevitable happened and finally brought the two together onstage. After several performances and appearances around the UK, the duo decided to take their show on the road and the Boombox Tour was born! Working its way through New Zealand, Australia and Hong Kong from December 2011 to February 2012 Hobbit & Ad Apt showed the other side of the pond what the UK has to offer in their all vocal show.

Hobbit & Ad Apt create a fully live in your face performance where the show fuses rap, beatbox, vocals and emceeing in ways that will have you dancing to your feet like your listening to a full live band. Switching from drum & bass to hip hop and from dubstep to garage the pair show off their variety as well as their love for music. Featuring live & looped beatboxing and the finest vocal acrobatics means bringing together the skills of one of the finest UK Beatboxers & MC’s together a show truly not to be missed!
